This collection includes archived copies of the academic catalogs of Suffolk University’s College of Arts and Sciences and the Sawyer Business School from 1934-1935 until present. Student handbooks are also available for the years 1994-2008.

The course catalogs and bulletins, published annually, contain general information about the university, tuition and fees, degree requirements, university policy and procedures, course offerings, and the academic calendar for the school year. In some years, there’s one combined catalog for both schools, and in other years a separate version was published for both schools. Likewise, the undergraduate and graduate offerings are sometimes published together or separately. Starting in 2010-2011, the catalogs exist primarily in electronic format.
Early academic catalogs and bulletins include additional information about university administration and its educational mission. The catalogs and bulletins document the institution’s administrative changes in schools and departments including the creation and renaming of schools. For example, the catalogs capture information about the former College of Journalism Archives and the New England School of Art and Design which merged with Suffolk University in 1996.
The University Archives is missing the following catalog: CAS for 1942-1943, and 1943-1944 (however it is possible that catalogs were never printed during these years due to reduced operations at the university during World War II) and NESAD for 1976-1977, 1980-1981, 1990-1991, and 1993-1994.
