Abstract
The demand for affordable, attractive furniture has created a rise in the “fast furniture” industry, causing cheap, disposable products to become the norm for middle class consumers. We must focus on educating Americans about quality furniture pieces that are low cost, such as refurbishing older furniture. The future of home furnishing requires a shift to sustainable design via education, community involvement, and responsible purchasing. Good design should be accessible to all, without harming the environment.
